Awareness isn't the goal. Conversion is.
Here is an uncomfortable question. When your agency sends you a monthly report, what is the first number on the page? If it's reach, impressions, or follower growth, you're being sold comfort, not performance. Those are the easiest metrics in marketing to celebrate. They're also the easiest to fake. Reach can be bought for pennies. Likes can be farmed. A post can "go viral" and sell nothing. None of it pays a salary or clears stock. We built Marker Media on one belief: awareness is where the work starts, never where it ends.
The metrics that flatter you
Big reach feels like progress because it looks like a crowd. But a crowd is not a customer. You can spend real IQD putting a video in front of five million people and end the month with zero new orders. That's not a hypothetical failure. It's the default outcome when a campaign is built to be seen instead of built to convert.
We've reached those numbers ourselves. Our Black Friday work for Miswag reached over five million people across digital and offline in four weeks. Their anniversary push reached three million in two. But reach was never the point of those campaigns. It was the top of a system designed to move people toward installs, signups, and checkout. Reach that doesn't feed a next step is just an expensive impression.
So ask yourself the honest version of the question: can your current report connect a single dinar of ad spend to a single sale? If it can't, you don't have a performance problem. You have a measurement problem, and it's hiding the performance problem underneath.
The funnel is one system, not four campaigns
We think in four stages, and every channel you run belongs to one of them.
- Awareness — the right people discover you. Reach and views matter here, but only as a starting line. - Consideration — they engage, compare, and start to trust. This is where creator-face ads earn their keep: a real creator fronting your product out-converts a generic brand ad by three to five times, because trust travels through faces, not logos. - Conversion — they install, sign up, or buy. This is the only stage that pays you. - Retention — they come back and buy again. Your warmest audience already lives inside your app or store, reachable through push notifications, in-app banners, and pop-ups.
The mistake most brands make is treating these as separate wins. A viral reel is celebrated on its own. A sales month is judged on its own. But they're the same machine. Reach with no consideration stage leaks. Consideration with no clear conversion path leaks. Conversion with no retention means you buy every customer twice. A leak at any stage means you paid for attention you couldn't cash.
What a real report looks like
A performance report reads down the funnel, not across a vanity chart. Reach and CTR at the top. Installs, CPI, and signups in the middle. Enrollment or conversion rate and ROAS at the point of sale. Then LTV and CAC, because the real question is not "what did this campaign cost" but "what is a customer worth over time, and did we pay less than that to get one."
When you see the whole funnel on one page, the flattering numbers lose their power. A five-million reach with a weak CTR and thin ROAS is no longer a headline. It's a diagnosis: the top is working, the middle is broken, fix the middle.
That's the shift we want every Iraqi and MENA operator to make. This market is young, mobile, and moving fast, and there are still very few local brands treating marketing as a conversion system rather than a content calendar. That gap is the opportunity.
So next month, before you accept the report, cover the reach number with your thumb. If what's left still tells a story of installs, leads, sales, and returning buyers, you're performing. If the page goes blank, you now know exactly what to fix. We don't post. We perform. Your reporting should too.

Iraq has a young, phone-first population, rising app adoption, and almost no dominant local performance brands. The window to move first is open now — and it won't stay open.
